aFe Cars & Cafe Recap: August 21, 2022
Since acquiring a new building early this year, aFe has thrown monthly Cars and Coffee events to make use of the extra asphalt. Johnny Hernandez of Marketing took charge of our August Cars & CaFe and is an avid fan of the Nissan 350/370z, so what better to spotlight than Takeda?
The Takeda brand started in 2009 when our interest in JDM & Sport Compacts took us back to its roots in Japan. Our line of Takeda intake and exhaust kits gears towards the cult following of high-performance Zs, GTRs, S-Chassis, Supras, Subarus, RX7s, Skylines, Type Rs, S2000s, Integras, Civics, and everything in between.
Local car groups certainly showed up to represent. In the humid overcast of the early August morning, more than 230 vehicles rolled in, ultimately forcing the sun to break through by the early afternoon. Infiniti Qs came in hot– Between Cal Q and VQ Society Club, slick Q50s and Q60s boasted almost the entire front row.
Civics lined the East Lot, bringing in Team Honda LA, OC, and IE. Johnny Hernandez, of course, took his 2013 Nissan 370Z out to play, equipped with a Takeda Intake and Takeda full-dual exhaust for more power and aFe Control Sway-Bars for more control.
Jerel’s track-prepped 2020 GR Supra 3.0L (t) was the show’s star with its well-over 600+ hp B58 tuned engine. He knows performance when he sees it, so his Supra is equipped with aFe’s finest products: Track Series Carbon Fiber Intake, Takeda Cat-Back Exhaust with Carbon Fiber Tips, BladeRunner Hot Charge Pipe, and Scorcher GT tuner. He’s nothing short of the real deal, and the next time we see him will be on the Hoonigan channel.
Add to the mix; a few MOPAR clubs arrived with an array of Dodge Challenger and Chargers. We have seen quite a bit of Mr. Jerry Combs lately, owner of this 2022 Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody- the highest horsepower Dodge you can get nowadays, save the 2019 Demon. He calls it the Evil Twin– a Marvel reference- always in competition with his older Charger, the Silver Surfer. Under the hood sits a prototype for the upcoming aFe Power Stage-2 Intake that our Research & Development team has been perfecting recently. A Track Series Carbon Fiber Intake and Scorcher module are also in the works for this mega HEMI engine– soon to be released. From a design standpoint, engineer George W. says it was challenging developing an intake that outperforms the already-robust factory intake– but we did it. Jerry feels the improvement and chirps through all the gears now.
Summer’s coming to an end, but events for automotive enthusiasts are going strong. BMW Riverside is hosting a night market Fri, Sept 23rd, and Round 3 of Hot Pit AutoFest is going down at Orange Show Speedway on Sat, Sept 24th. What’s in the works for us? Sun, Sept 18th, is our next Cars & CaFe. Everyone’s going back to school, so we’re collecting school supplies for in-need elementary school students in Corona. Those who come with donations will receive an extra raffle ticket to win an aFe prize!
Always free and family-friendly, join us for a good time.
