Gemini XV Exhaust Systems– Pairing Exhaust Valve Motor Controller to Remote
Affected Part Numbers:
- All Gemini XV Valved Exhaust Systems.
- (Gemini XV Exhaust Systems by aFe POWER all include muffler bypass exhaust valve assembly, which includes the valve, motor, controller unit, and remote key fobs to open and close the valve.)
Issue:
Valves will not open and close when using the remote.
Solution:
Re-Pair the Valve Controller to the Remote key fob
- aFe Gemini exhaust systems are supplied with exhaust valve motor, controller and 2 remotes.
- The remotes are paired to the controller from the factory.
- However, sometimes the pairing is lost when the batteries are low or replaced.
- This will cause the valve to not open and close when using the remote.
- If this occurs, a simple pairing of the remote to the controller may be necessary.
- To pair the remote to the controller, you will first open the controller box.
- This can be done with a small screwdriver.
- Insert the screwdriver in the seam of the box and twist it until the box opens up.
- Locate the reset button inside the unit on the inlet power side of the controller
- Make sure there is power to the controller
- A red light next to the reset button will be lit
- Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and release the button.
- A second red light will light up when the reset button is pressed. This light will go out after 10 seconds.
- Now press and release the reset button
- Then press the ON button and then the OFF buttons on the remote
- Press and release the reset button once more.
- Test the remote- when you press the buttons on the remote the valve should open and close
- If it does not operate correctly, make sure the controller has power and repeat the process.
