Regain Your Jeep’s Power

Part 2: Intake Systems

Intake Systems

The restrictive stock setup, together with and heavy gear and tires weighing down your truck or Jeep, means you’re loosing horsepower and torque on your adventures. We walk you through our process on how we help you get the power back through engineering, hard numbers and rigorous R&D. The Momentum Cold Air Intake features a larger filter, sight window, incorporates factory inlet, and vent tube for maximum airflow, horsepower, and torque.

In the second part of our aFe POWER series showing you behind-the-scenes science on developing products, in this case, our 2021 Jeep Gladiator JT EcoDiesel, we tackle a critical issue that affects you as a driver: the restrictive nature of the stock intake system and the added weight of heavy gear and larger tires. The stock intake flows only 320 CFM at 7 inches of water, which significantly limits your vehicle’s performance, leaving you craving more power and responsiveness. With the factory setup operating at an air-fuel ratio of 14.5:1, it fails to provide the airflow needed for optimal performance, which should be 373 CFM at 14.5:1 and 463 CFM at 18:1. Without adequate airflow, regaining the horsepower and torque you desire becomes challenging.

Justin, an avid Jeep enthusiast and AFE Engineer, walks through design choices that lead to improved numbers. The Momentum intake features a larger air filter, providing significantly improved airflow of 395 CFM, allowing your engine to breathe more efficiently. It also incorporates a factory inlet and a vent tube that enhances crankcase ventilation, helping to draw in even more air. There is also a convenient sight window so you can easily check the filter and ensure you’re maintaining optimal performance with minimal effort. By addressing the limitations of the stock intake and countering the effects of lost power, the Momentum Intake and Scorcher Plus work together to unlock your vehicle’s potential, providing the power and reliability you seek for better performance and more adventures.
