When we built our G87 M2 for SEMA, we aimed to create a clean and elevated daily driver that showcased our Momentum GT Cold Air Intake and MACH Force-Xp Cat-Back Exhaust. Our goal wasn’t an over-the-top build, but to enhance the driving experience with maximum airflow and a more engaging sound.
The intake harnesses maximum airflow and works together with the Scorcher and exhaust, allowing the vehicle to breathe in and breathe out and fire on all cylinders.
ENGINE & PERFORMANCE UPGRADES
We set out to pinpoint the biggest chokepoints in getting out the most performance possible from this BMW. We started with the Cold Air Intake to maximize clean, cool air. The dual airbox and high performance Pro 5R filters are essential in optimizing airflow. When tested on the dyno, they delivered gains as well. Additionally, the exhaust system improves the driving experience by its unique sound.
We developed two of our plug-and-play performance electronics for the G87, including the Scorcher BLUE piggyback tuner and the Sprint Booster Throttle Enhancer. Together, the Scorcher and Sprint Booster quicken throttle response and make the M2 a fierce competitor on the track, while still being safe and practical enough for daily driving.
To explain, the Scorcher is an aFe product that acts as a piggyback tuner, intercepting signals to unleash large amounts of horsepower and torque, without leaving a trace on the ECU. MACH Force-Xp Exhaust System
“BMWs already have a very distinct sound. We challenged the Exhaust Team to make it better — not just louder, but better.”
- Aggressive Sound: A free-flowing, transverse muffler is used to absorb high pitch tones producing a powerful sound and unleashing all available horsepower and torque. The muffler is finished with a high-temp powder-coated black finish and a stamped aFe power logo.
- Exhaust Valve: This cat-back exhaust system incorporates a factory style exhaust valve which uses the factory exhaust valve motor (not included). The valve helps regulate, direct and control the flow of exhaust gases by opening, closing, or partially obstructing passageways depending on throttle position for maximum performance.
