2nd Gen Tundra Magnuson Supercharger Intake
Looking to get even more from your Magnuson supercharged 2nd generation Tundra? Well, that is exactly what local off-roader, Adam, wanted for his truck.
So we answered the call. We took our 25 years of experience and worked with Adam to thoroughly test a new intake system both on our in-house dyno and out on desert runs and the result is an intake system that opens up the supercharger to more airflow to make even more power and withstand the demands of the toughest conditions.
Enter Adam, a local enthusiast and aFe POWER partner, with his 2017 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro that he has equipped with a Magnuson blower – boosting the 5.7L up to 560 HP. You’re probably thinking “What’s the problem? That sounds great.” Well Adam, being an avid off-roader and the manager of local off-road club Low Pressure Crew, he doesn’t exactly “baby” his truck. He hammers his heavy, fully kitted 2nd Gen Tundra through tricky terrain, asking everything of the boosted 5.7. What he found was that building boost would cause the factory style panel filter to deform allowing debris to enter his engine. The final nail in the coffin was when the panel filter tore apart and destroyed his airbox during a high-speed water crossing.
In the modern era, adding superchargers and turbochargers to factory trucks is commonplace. While most are done so to increase efficiency, we’re more interested in how they’re utilized to make more POWER. But, that extra power comes at a cost – there is a much higher demand for air and fuel and an increased load placed on components.
If you’re looking to use every bit of boost your truck can build, that last thing you need are parts that are not up to the task.

On the other end, with the expansion of aftermarket support, there are now options to boost naturally aspirated trucks. While these kits are great, it takes more care to properly utilize them when the rest of the factory parts weren’t necessarily designed to operate under that much pressure. With Ford incorporating conical filters and RAM designing one of the largest factory intakes ever, it’s easy to see that these high output engines need some beefed-up supporting components.
So, when he came to us asking if we had a solution to his problem, we got right to doing what we do best – building top-of-the-line intakes fitted with the best filters in the industry.
What resulted was an intake specifically designed for supercharged Tundras that not only outflowed the factory intake but could withstand peak boost in the toughest conditions. It took months of R&D, thousands of miles on- and off-road, and dyno run after dyno run. But with Adam making even more power than before and being able to effortlessly spin tire on the trail all day long, we’d say it was well worth the effort.
